Recording into the Tonverk
  • Cable: phone headphone out (or USB‑C → 3.5 mm dongle) → 3.5 mm TRS to 2× 6.3 mm TS → Tonverk In A / In B. Most streams are mono, so one jack is enough. Tonverk is also class‑compliant USB audio; an Android phone with a USB‑C data cable can act as host and send audio digitally over USB. Analog is the simplest and known to work.
  • Level: play the 1 kHz −12 dBFS tone, phone volume at ~90–100 %, and set Tonverk input gain so it reads about −12 dB. Keep the phone volume fixed afterwards. Streams peak a lot louder than they average, so leave headroom.
  • Phone: turn on Do Not Disturb, disable keyboard clicks and notification sounds, and switch off any EQ or "adaptive sound".
  • Workflow: let the Tonverk record 1–3 minutes, then slice. Open mics and hydrophones are slow: give them time. Press 🎲 for a random samplable source.
  • Rights: PD public domain · CC Creative Commons (attribution, check NC/SA) · OPEN open mic / natural or public radio traffic, free to listen, credit the project · TRAD public-domain repertoire (chant, kirtan, recitation) performed live by a religious community with no written license: the music is free, the performance technically is not, low risk for personal use, credit them · © rights reserved, listen for ideas only. The "samplable only" switch hides ©.
  • Ogg streams may not play on iPhone (Safari has no Vorbis). Android plays everything here.
